A bit about Pim:
Dutch, male living in currently: the Netherlands.
Immediately after graduating from high school, I left for Degania B, one of the oldest kibbutzim. There I lived from June 1981 to June 1982, working in agriculture: bananas (with Selwyn Peters), gadash (with Pinchas Schwartz), pardes, dates etc., and studying Hebrew in the kibbutz-Ulpan, kita Bet. Our class was taught by the excellent teacher Mr. Na'im Dahan: a Palmach veteran and from a familiy who has been living in Peki'in (Upper Galilee) uninteruptedly for centuries. My guest parents were Tamar and Arnon with their many children: lovely people. Exciting trips were organized for the volunteers and students, one of the first was all the way to Yammit in the Sinai on the Mediterranean (a town that ceased to exist less than a year after our visit when the Sinai was returned to Egypt). In later years, I repeatedly returned to Deganya Bet, with stays ranging from a few days to two months. Again I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and beautiful surroundings in the Jordan Valley.
