David says...
How well I remember Hava. She must have been one of the strongest women I have ever met in my life. Not only physically - she walked all the way down wadi Kelt through the desert to Jericho at an age when most are happier in a deck chair - but also in terms of what she must have experienced in her life from early Czechoslovakia through the aliya and the War of Independence, the Six Day War and its heady days of partial victory, through to the sadness of the Yom Kippur war and its effect of many of the young kibbutzniks, and beyond...not to mention having to put up with us volunteers! I spent many a Shabbat afternoon talking to her and her husband Gadi who was a specialist in the history of the Crusades (although trained as a lawyer in Czechoslovakia, but unable to practice in Israel).
